About me

Hi, I'm Dustin, and I run an independent, owner-operated handyman business serving the San Francisco area.  Most of my income is from straightforward flat-rate services where I come to you and work in your home.  Check out my services page for the growing list of offerings.  Through my workshop in Bayview, tooled for both woodwork and textiles, I also offer custom designed cabinetry, drapery, and upholstery.  Think bay window storage seating, window curtains, privacy screens, box cushions.

Transparency and safety are priorities. For your peace of mind, I carry $1,000,000 in general liability insurance (Certificate of Insurance available immediately upon request). Please note that I operate as a handyman and am not a licensed general contractor. I encourage you to review the complete Terms and Conditions of my services here.

What is Genjokoba, anyway?  It's the name of my workshop. The name is a playful take on Dogen's 13th-century essay, 'Genjo-koan' (Actualizing the Fundamental Point). By swapping koan (spiritual inquiry) for koba (workshop), the meaning of the name becomes a new question into the the role of everyday work in a meaningful life.  This reflects my belief that true craftsmanship and innovation happen not in the abstract, but through mindful, deeply engaged practice in the present moment, with the work right in front of you.
